2 and a half months later..

And A LOT has changed. The first being this:
That’s right.. we’re pregnant!! We got married June 6th of this year, and pregnant the following month (fertile much?) lol. In fact we probably conceived sometime around my last post haha. I just entered the second trimester- I’m 13 weeks and a couple days along. As of now, my due date is April 16, 2010. I have to say that this pregnancy thing has been a piece of cake so far. I was never really sick, just super tired for the first 10 weeks or so. Now I barely feel preggers, except for my slowly expanding belly. But for now I still fit into my regular jeans so I’ll take it 🙂 I’m sure I’ll wake up some morning soon and not be so lucky!

This blog is probably going to go in a new direction than originally planned. It will be less about what I eat and more about my pregnancy and trying to live as healthy as possible as this little one grows. I have to admit I am not much of a foodie to begin with and photographing all of my meals would be rather pathetic and repetitive. But I will post the odd recipe that actually turns out 🙂 Even though I haven’t been posting I have still been reading lots of blogs. I thought about not coming back to writing with everything that has been going on, but I think it will be good to document this exciting time in our lives.

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians! Anybody? I am excited for all the delicious food to come this weekend and also to have 5 wonderful days off work (Friday and Tuesday off makes for an extra long weekend!) I am off to clean this disaster of a house so I can relax this evening!

5k ready in 2 months?

Good evening! What a gorgeous Sunday it was- so nice to finally see some sun! I stared my day off with a green monster 🙂 I never measure what goes in, but it contained:

1 Small banana
Some local strawberries
Few ice cubes
Spinach (couple big handfuls?)
1/2 cup President’s Choice 100% juice puree in pineapple, guava, passion fruit

This stuff is really good! I find it too strong on its own, but perfect in smoothies. There’s no crazy ingredients in it either. I haaate any kind of milk (except a little bit in cereal sometimes, weird..) so I’m glad I found this juice to throw in there. All in a green cup 🙂

I did some much needed laundry this morning and then pretty much just bummed around catching up on blogs/facebook. Before I knew it I was hungry for lunch. Just a grocery store garden salad (with too much cheese, blechh) and a scoop of hummus. A gala apple on the side.

Dean and I took the dog to a beach not far from our house. Turns out dogs aren’t allowed on this particular beach, but there ended up being a few trails around there so we went for a walk on those. We came across an empty baseball field so we let Brooklyn run and run. Haha she was so tired by the end of it.. and so well behaved all afternoon, it was nice! I had an unpictured peanut butter glo bar when we got home- yummyy!

Went to my parents house for a bit, then stopped and picked up Chinese food for Dean on the way home. I got Subway for myself- did I mention yet that I’m addicted to Subway? I think I could eat it every single day and not get sick of it.. I got a footlong veggie on honey oat with mustard and everything except olives! And half of a double chocolate cookie.. I couldn’t resist, they were freshly baked and smelled so good. So good, yet so bad hahah I do not regret it though.

Didn’t get in as much exercise this weekend as I would have liked, but it was very relaxing and I’m feeling 100% better. I was sick with a cold all last week, and it made working so annoying. I hate having the sniffles all day. So I’m glad I’m feeling better to start this week. Back to work tomorrow 😦

Dean and I are going to sign up for a race! I always hear about the Tim Horton’s Marathon By The Sea but I didn’t realize there were also 5k and 10k races too.

I have never done a race before, and am a very new runner so I’m going to sign up for the 5k. It’s September 27th, so I’m pretty confident I’ll be ready by then. I can’t wait until our treadmill comes in on Thursday, it will be so convenient!

I’m off to watch Big Brother before bed 🙂 Anybody else watch? Any early favorites? I’m not sure who I like yet, but it’s definitely not Ronnie!

I heart Saturdays

This has been the longest day ever! We were up way too early for a Saturday, but got a lot accomplished as a result. The good: out for a yummy breakfast, bought a new treadmill (yayyy!) , went to a movie, got my car inspected and an oil change. The bad: my poor little car failed the inspection. They said it’s going to be around $900 to fix.. but we’re going to check a few places on Monday to see if we can find the parts any cheaper. Until then, I have a bright orange rejection sticker on it 😦 Oh well, this is the last time I’m going to put money into it.. I’ll be happy if it lasts me another year! Then it will be time for a new one.

Being a brand new blogger, I completely forgot to take my camera to breakfast this morning! And at home I realized I was taking pictures without my memory card in the camera. Wouldn’t be so bad except I lost the USB cable to it during the last move and only have a memory card reader. Duh. So I managed to get two pathetic shots of my afternoon snacks.

Kiwi and strawberries

A Glo bar sample that I stashed in my purse for a movie snack (My favorite kind so far.. so good!)

Tomorrow my camera skills will be better, I promise haha 🙂

Our new treadmill wasn’t in stock so it’s being delivered to the store on Thursday and we can pick it up then! I’m super excited about being able to just walk downstairs for a workout. My gym membership runs our next month and lately it seems like the only thing I do there is use the treadmill, so I don’t think I’ll renew it right away. I do like to go to the occasional class though, so we’ll see if I miss it or not.

The weather here has been rainy and foggy all day, so depressing! I think it’s a good night to curl up on the couch with a book. I’m such a party animal! I’ll leave you with a picture of our dog, Brooklyn. She’s a 2 year old husky-shepherd mix, and still very much a hyper puppy. She’s also the devil, but I love her 🙂

Have a great night!

Newbie Alert!

Hello blog world! I’m Jillian 🙂 I am so very new to all of this so please bare with me as I learn! Let’s get the basics out of the way, shall we?

I’m 24 years old and live in New Brunswick, Canada. I decided to start this little bloggy after getting somewhat addicted to various food blogs! You all have helped me so much, and I’ve been inspired to try so many new things! I am currently maintaining a 25lb weight loss, but that journey is far from over yet. I gained a lot of weight in the few years after high school, during college. I was so used to eating whatever I wanted to and not gaining a pound until my metabolism finally slowed down. I was not eating healthy at all and was far from active.

Last summer, what should have been one of the happiest times in my life was just depressing. I had just gotten engaged to my boyfriend of 5 years, but I was at the highest weight of my life. I had gained 40lbs in those 5 years. K- enough of this negativity! There was no way I was going to walk down the aisle like that, I wanted to be happy and healthy on my wedding day. And I was 🙂 Dean and I have been married for over a month now and I have lost 25lbs- and I felt beautiful that day. It truly was the best day of my life.

I lost the first 15 pounds by exercise alone. After that, I was at a stand still and knew my eating habits had to change. I’ve been eating new delicious, healthy foods that I never thought would ever go near my mouth. Slowly but surely it’s becoming more of a lifestyle change and my body is definitely thanking me. One reason I started this blog is because it’s a way to keep myself accountable for the things I eat and my activity level. Just because I don’t have a wedding dress to squeeze into anymore doesn’t mean I want to go back to where I was just last year!

More about my life (and some eats of course!) to come tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you come back! Here’s a couple wedding photos 🙂
